A Morgan County man, 22-year-old Paul Crass, was injured in a shooting involving law enforcement Sunday afternoon at a residence on Coal Hill Road.
“It’s my understanding that at 4:45 or 5 o’clock this evening officers were dispatched to a call on Coal Hill Road, a threat call, when officers arrived they encountered a suspect with a weapon. There was a brief standoff, fire was exchanged and the suspect was hit and taken to UT Hospital,” Morgan County Sheriff Wayne Potter said. “TBI was called immediately afterward.”
Roane County Sheriff’s Office and Wartburg Police Department also answered the call.
According to a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) report, Crass fired his weapon, then officers returned fire and Crass was struck. Crass was then rendered aid and transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
No officers were injured in the shooting.
The case is under investigation by TBI.
