Lindsay pleads guilty to murder

A Morgan County man, 51-year-old Wayne C. Lindsay, entered a guilty plea this morning to a charge of second-degree murder in connection with the death of John Hammond in Nov. 2018.

According to a report at the time of the incident, the murder happened at a residence on Herbert Shannon Road near Sunbright when Lindsay shot Hammond in the head while he was asleep in a cot after an earlier argument between the two men.

Hammond’s skeletal remains were discovered near the residence covered in rocks in April 2019 after a tip to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office.

Lindsay has been sentenced to 35 years in prison.
