The Morgan County Rescue Squad is heading up a search for an elderly Gobey resident that has been missing since Thursday afternoon.

“We’ve got an 84 or 85-year-old male that went missing yesterday afternoon around 4:30 was the last time he was seen by his wife. He went to the mailbox and did not return,” Morgan County Rescue Squad Chief Neil Noe said. “The call came into us last night around 10:30 and we were out here till close to 4:30 this morning.

“We’ve had a dog team from the prison involved. We’ve done ground searches and now we’ve got THP flying for us with two helicopters. Hopefully, we come up with something pretty soon and we’re going to continue on until we find this gentleman.”

Weather has hampered the search and Noe is concerned about the possibility of heavy rain and thunderstorms in the forecast later this afternoon.

“It’s a pretty good concern considering the age of the individual and he does have dementia,” he said. “We’re doing what we can to get him located and get him home safe.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office at (423) 346-6262.
