Gun and knife enthusiasts need to go no farther than Crossville this weekend as the 10th Cumberland County Gun and Knife Show will be held at the Cumberland County Community Complex located at 1398 Livingston Road.

“There will be thousands of guns and knives in the buildings,” Cumberland County Parks and Recreation Director Donnie Moody said. “We’ve had vendors that have been part of our family for 10 years now and I really respect all of them. I think everybody will have a good time; we do it as a family show.”

The show runs Saturday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. One of the highlights of the event will take place Saturday at 5 p.m. with the Cumberland County Sheriff Department’s confiscated weapons auction.

“We’ve done that for the last 10 years and it’s always fun,” Moody said. “There are 140 lots this year and it should be a great auction. We’ve seen a lot of interesting things go through the auction and we’ve got an interesting gun this year as we have a 9 MM Gatling Gun that we will sell at the auction.”

Admission to the event is $5 on Saturday and free on Sunday. Moody says proceeds from the event will benefit youngsters in the Crossville area.

“That money goes back to the children of Cumberland County,” he said. “Our facility here is donated to any children’s group that needs to use the facility for any reason.”

There will be more than guns and knives. Food vendors will be on hand and food vendors will be set up as well.

“We do it as a family show… We want to have something for not just the guys because these are guy toys, but there are a lot of females involved now days in shooting sports and there’s stuff for them,” Moody said. “There’s also things for the novice. We have classes for handgun safety, the sheriff’s department does that for us so there’s a lot of really neat things we do that no other show does.”

Moody added there will be COVID-19 restrictions in place for the event as the Cumberland County Community Complex will be limited to 50 percent of normal attendance.
