What started off as a horrific situation turned out fine for the most part Monday afternoon as a 911 call reporting three children had been shot and killed in the Potters Chapel community of Morgan County was false.

“A call came in that a female had killed three of her children and was shooting at the boyfriend,” Morgan County Sheriff’s Wayne Potter said. “We got out here on the scene and the subject had apparently been taking some kind of non prescription medication. (He) appeared to be impaired. He was lost and ended up off Genesis Road.”

Jesse Hammock, age 28, of Livingston faces several charges in connection with the incident including filing a false report, driving under the influence, driving while license revoked, leaving the scene of an accident, and vandalism.

At the end of the day, Potter was happy with how the event played out.

“It’s a blessing that we didn’t come out here the way we were dispatched with three small children being killed,” he said. “It was just a bad situation but everybody was fine. I spoke with the girlfriend and the children were all safe.”

Tune into all three WECO stations on Tuesday for more on this story.
