The 52nd Annual Deer Lodge Parade and Celebration will have fireworks this year according to parade committee member Susie Kries.

“It’s just been wonderful that we’ve had some gracious donations,” Kries said. “We will be having fireworks that night after the parade. I hope everyone will come out and enjoy them.”

The announcement of fireworks is big for the parade considering less than two months ago the annual event is in doubt due to COVID-19.

“It has just worked out great,” Kries said. “”we have had some wonderful people that have come forward to help and make donations.”

Saturday’s 52 Annual Deer Lodge Parade and Celebration kicks off at 8 a.m. with breakfast at the Weidemann. The raising of the flag will take place at 10:45 a.m. followed by the parade at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon the the Deer Lodge Abner Ross Memorial Center and the Weidemann and at 1 p.m. there will be kids games at the basketball courts.

Other events are scheduled throughout the day as well.

WECO’s Brad Byrd will be broadcasting live in Deer Lodge from 9-11 a.m. Saturday.
