Morgan County Man Facing Charges After Carrying A Gun To McGhee Tyson Airpoprt – WECO News – Thursday, May 16th, 2013

Security CheckA Morgan County man is facing charges, after he took a loaded semi-automatic handgun to the McGhee Tyson Airport on Tuesday, according to Knoxville media outlets.

The gun was found on Tuesday inside a carry-on bag at the security checkpoint by transportation safety officers.

The gun’s owner, Bobby York, told officers he was flying to Orlando and forgot the gun was in his bag.

York has been cited for carrying a weapon with the purpose of going armed.


Woman Found DeadThe Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office has arrested an Anderson County man indicted last week by the Anderson County grand jury for the death of a female found dead along a road in September 2012.

James Wylie, 54, of Clinton, Tenn. was indicted last Tuesday on one count of criminal homicide, one count of kidnapping and one count of leaving the scene of a death or personal injury. On September 12, 2012, the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department responded to Cobb Hollow Road where a body had been discovered. The victim was identified as 33-year-old Martha Rose McGhee, of Lake City. The investigation revealed that McGhee fell out of Wylie’s vehicle and struck her head which caused her death. The two were reportedly friends. The 7th Judicial District Attorney General requested TBI to investigate McGhee’s death with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.

Wylie was booked into the Anderson County Jail on a $500,000 bond.


Cap and GownMembers of the Class of 2013 in Morgan County will graduate beginning tonight.

Coalfield will be the first high school in the county to hold commencement which will begin at 7 o’clock this evening.

Then Oakdale will be next beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday followed by Wartburg at 10:30.

Sunbright will wind things up on Sunday with commencement beginning at 3 p.m.

Princess TheatreThe World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra will appear in concert at the Princess Theater in Harriman on Saturday. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. and tickets are $20 or $25. Tickets may be purchased in advance at Rocky Top General Store or Harriman Jewelry Exchange.

The Glenn Miller Orchestra concert is sponsored by the Princess Theater Foundation and proceeds will be used to support its effort to maintain the historic Princess Theater.
