WECO News: Monday, November 26th, 2012 – Coalfield’s Bid For A State Championship Ends At Gordonsville

Hopes of making it to the state championship game ended on Friday night in Gordonsville for the Coalfield Yellow Jackets.

Coalfield had a 7 to 6 halftime lead, but was not able to maintain the advantage going into the second half. Gordonsville rallied in the second half to go on and win 39 to 15 over the Yellow Jackets.

Gordonsville will move on to play Huntingdon for the state championship.

We congratulate the Coalfield Yellow Jackets on a great winning season and thank them for an exciting season of high school football.

Morgan County Communication Center dispatchers say a house fire was reported at about 4 p.m. Sunday on Camp Road in Coalfield. Firefighters from Coalfield, Petros and Joyner fire departments responded to fight the blaze. According to the dispatcher no one was home at the time of the fire.

 

There was a two-vehicle accident in Coalfield on Friday at about 1:15 p.m. No injuries were reported.

A one-vehicle accident near Coalfield Market knocked out power lines on Saturday at about 5 a.m. disrupting power service in that area.

Then on Saturday at about 6:30 in the morning a one-vehicle near Forestner Cemetery took out a telephone pole disrupting service in that area.
